Our County

High Peak and Dales

The High Peak and Dales are predominantly rural and defined by the Peak District National Park. The north of the county is closely linked to the economies of Sheffield and Manchester. A highly skilled area with affluent market towns. Food and drink manufacturing, biopharma and quarrying are key drivers in the area. Many creative industries also cluster here, providing opportunities for office and creative workspaces.

Chesterfield and the M1 Corridor

This area is defined by excellent connectivity; a strong road infrastructure (M1, A61), superb rail links and five international and cargo airports all within easy reach. Chesterfield is the largest town in Derbyshire and the economic hub for the north of the county. Its rich industrial heritage means there are many large-scale sites available as well as impressive town regeneration and development opportunities.

Greater Derby

This area benefits from the economies of the cities of Derby and Nottingham which lie just 13 miles apart, with a strong and vibrant manufacturing base, significant supply chain opportunities and a rapidly growing population.

The National Forest and rural landscape add to the attractiveness of the area.
